Garmin inReach has emerged as the ultimate navigation device you can get on the market. The same can be configured for use in no time. You can pair it with your android or iOS smartphone and use it to write, send and receive messages easily. However, doing that for the first time can be difficult for some. This blog will walk you through the steps to connect your Garmin inReach to your phone in easy steps.
Requirements
In order to connect your Garmin inReach to your phone, you’ll first need to set up a service account and activate the services. If you haven’t already, you can always follow these instructions to do so:
- Go to the Garmin inReach login page using the explore.delorme.com web address and follow the instructions.
- Type in the IMEI number and the authorization code on the screen for activation. Click “Next” and press Enter.
- Register your account by entering your email address and then assigning a password.
- Type your personal and emergency contact details. These contacts will be notified when the inReach device enters SOS emergency mode.
- You can choose a service plan based on your use.
After you have created your account, DeLorme will send you a Welcome SMS to let you test your Garmin device.
- After the inReach Garmin account setup is complete and the device has been turned on, and a satellite signal is available, your Garmin inReach device will ask you whether you’re ready for the message.
- Choose the Messages option on the home screen of your device and choose the message you want to send from DeLorme. Then you need to hit on the Enter key.
Connect inReach to an iOS smartphone
- Go to your inReach device and select Settings.
- Browse through the same to find Bluetooth and then select Pair inReach.
- Again, select the Pair inReach option.
- Launch the Earthmate app on your iOS smartphone and log in if necessary.
- Tap on the More option and select Options.
- Again, select Pair Device and select the inReach model you have.
- Touch Connect from the device and tap on the name of the inReach device once it appears in the list under the Select an Accessory section.
Allow some 2 minutes for the device name to appear in the list. Once you have selected the same, the pairing process is complete. You can now begin using your inReach device with the Earthmate app.
Connect inReach to an Android smartphone
- On the Garmin inReach device, select the Settings option and tap on Bluetooth from the menu.
- Select the Pair inReach button and again click on the Pair inReach button.
- Now, launch the Earthmate app on your smartphone and log in to your Garmin account if required.
- Touch on the three vertical dots and select the Pair option.
- Again, select the inReach model you have and tap on the Connect button.
- Tap the inReach device once it appears in the list of connected devices.
The pairing process is now complete and you can use it with the Earthmate app easily.
